È piacevole svegliarsi e scoprire che durante la notte qualcosa di sbagliato è successo nella propria centrale telefonica e, anziché una ADSL NGI, all’altro capo del filo risponde una ADSL Wind, con tanto di IP di Wind e pagina di “Registrazione della tua nuova Libero ADSL!” (unica pagina accessibile con quella connessione).

Non resta che aspettare che l’idraulico rimetta a posto i tubi.

Guardando il simbolo, ciò che secondo me viene spontaneo è leggere tutto il testo di un colore e poi tutto il testo dell’altro colore. Cosí si possono leggere due frasi il cui significato è esattamente opposto a quello inteso dal titolare del simbolo.

Lo trovo divertente.

Poi sono venuti quelli a risparmio, con il pulsante a bilanciere per avviare e interrompere il flusso d’acqua. Intuitivo, anche senza le scritte “START/STOP” sopra. Basta una leggera concavità da un lato.

Poi sono venuti quelli bipower, con il pulsante grande per il bisogno grande e il pulsante piccolo per il bisogno piccolo. Abbastanza intuitivo, anche se meno flessibile.

Oggi mi sono trovato davanti un nuovo tipo. Un pulsantino solo, ovale. Appeso al muro c’è un foglio con uno schema della cassetta dell’acqua e le istruzioni: “Per economizzare l’acqua, premere una seconda volta il tasto. Cosí facendo si arresterà la fuori uscita dell’acqua prima del suo normale decorso.”

A parte che io avrei almeno scritto “deflusso”, in effetti funziona. Però non so, ho come l’impressione di involuzione. E che il risparmio medio sia inferiore a quello di altri tipi.

Non ho provato a fare doppio clic.

chan_mobile.c is available in the Asterisk SVN repository and only works with the development version of the PBX software. On the project website there’s a patch that should make this channel work with 1.4.x stable releases of Asterisk but it’s not updated an it doesn’t work anymore.

I wanted to use chan_mobile with the Debian sid package (current version: 1.4.13) so I updated the patch and made it available on my web site:

• patched version of chan_mobile.c
• diff to be applied to the current (r493) svn revision

It’s been designed for use in small businesses or home environments and the typical user doesn’t need to be a networking expert. In fact, the website says: “Simplified, web based user management for more intelligent networking“, i.e. “the web interface won’t let you do lots of useful but complicated things.” In addition, Internet Explorer seems to be a requirement as some IE-specific JavaScript library functions are used by the configuration interface.

A console menu-based interface is also available (via ssh with a 512-bit key), but with fewer options than the web-based one (e.g. you can’t define VLANs). How to improve this situation? Just follow these steps:

1. Make a ssh connection to the switch.
2. Authenticate yourself.
3. Press Ctrl-Z
4. Type lcli at the prompt, then press Enter.

Et voilà! You now have access to a full-featured Cisco-like CLI, with many more features than the limited set you’re offered by the web and official interfaces.

This seems to be a “bug” in the menu-based interface, so it may well be possible that future revisions won’t allow the user to escape from it.

I usually don’t write multilingual posts, but as I had to search quite a lot on the Internet for this solution, I think it may be useful to translate this one.

To make the long story short (the italian one is quite long, indeed): How To Make Your HP Color LaserJet 2550 Print Also If It Says That There Is No More Toner:

1. Turn your printer off.
2. Push and hold the green button.
3. Turn the printer on.
4. Wait about 20 seconds. The 3 lower LEDs (orange, green, green) turn on one by one, then the first two turn off again. The lower green LED stays on.
5. Without releasing the green button, push the toner carousel rotation button. The 3 lower LEDs turn on.
6. Wait a couple of seconds, then release the green button.
7. Start pushing repeatedly, as fast as you can, the red button. The printer LEDs start to blink in sequence, then they settle.
8. Turn the printer off and on again.
9. After the boot sequence, if the printer is not in the Ready state, push the red button.

This way, the exausted or nearly exausted toner cartridges will be recognized as “non original replacements” (as you can see on the configuration page you can print by pushing the red and green button at the same time) and you can go on printing. Be warned: if you insist in using a really exausted toner cartridge or drum you’ll end up in a damaged or dirty printer.

Other people got the same result in slightly different ways; this thread is a useful source of additional information.
